Mackerel in Ginger Sauce

This post is also available in: Italiano

Friday at the fish department of the grocery store I saw some beautiful mackerel with shiny skin with shades of silver blue diamonds. I decided to buy them. I wanted to cook them in a way that would make them easy to digest and so I thought of a recipe. The plate was well liked by my family.

MACKEREL IN GINGER SAUCE
Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking time: 30 minutes
(Serves 4)

4 mackerel, cleaned
1 lemon
1 small leek
1 ginger root
8 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
salt and pepper

  1. This recipe steams the fish, so you need a pot with a steam basket. Pour the water into the pot along with a leek that has been cut into pieces and a handful of salt. Place the fish in the steamer.
  2. Cut the lemon into slices and arrange on top of the fish. Close the lid. Bring water to a boil, boil 30 minutes, then turn it off.
  3. To make the sauce: grate the ginger root obtaining about a tablespoon of pulp,
place it in a bowl with the olive oil, a pinch of salt, and a few drops of lemon.
  4. Remove the mackerel from the basket and cut the twine. Be careful to remove all the strings. Place each fillet on a little sauce. Serve with boiled potatoes seasoned with olive oil and parsley.
